There are a few expectations I have for someone who acquires a cat from me.
1. No declawing. This changes the way they walk and can cause behavioral issues ranging from increased aggression to refusal to use the litter box. Declawing the kitten you receive from me immediately voids any health guarantees in the contract, including the 3-year genetic health guarantee.
2. Indoor-only. You're spending a lot of money on a rare breed of cat, so wouldn't you want to ensure they're around a long time? A cat can encounter a lot of dangers outside, from becoming prey to an eagle or coyote to being hit on the road or attacked by another cat. In the house is safest, but they can be outside on a harness/leash or in a catio.
3. Spay/Neuter Requirement. Kittens must be spayed/neutered by 8 months of age. Registration papers are withheld until proof of this is shown. Alternatively, the kitten can be spayed/neutered before leaving my house for an additional cost. I encourage you to check the price near you for altering a cat as it may cost less than it does by me. Sadly, we are unable to offer this option at this time due to long wait times at the clinic for this surgical procedure.
4. Health and Vaccinations. Your kitten will have received age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a thorough health check by a licensed veterinarian before leaving my care. I recommend establishing a relationship with a trusted veterinarian to continue regular wellness checks and vaccinations as your kitten grows.
5. Diet and Nutrition. I feed my kittens a high-quality, species-appropriate diet to support their growth and overall health. I will provide you with a small supply of the food they are currently eating to ease the transition to their new home. Please avoid sudden diet changes, as this can cause digestive upset.
6. Microchipping. All kittens are microchipped before leaving my care, or I provide a microchip that can be inserted by your veterinarian. This small step significantly increases the chances of a safe reunion if your cat is ever lost or stolen.
7. Return Policy. If, for any reason, you are unable to keep your kitten, I request that you return the cat to me or allow me to assist in finding an appropriate new home. This ensures the cat remains in a safe and loving environment.
8. Updates and Communication. I love hearing about how my kittens are doing in their new homes. While not required, I appreciate periodic updates and photos. This helps me track the development and well-being of my cats over their lifetime.
